Houston Alumnae Chapter History

Houston Alumnae Chapter History

The Houston Alumnae Chapter was founded in 1921 by seven Tri Deltas representing three universities: Sara Gaskill (University of Texas), Lillian Evans Settegast (University of Texas), Alice Lynn Harris Shelor (University of Texas), Eloise Watts Japhet (University of Texas), Sadie Hudson Williford (Southwestern University), Agnes McGregor Waddell (Randolph Macon College), and Mary Kate Harrison Kennedy (University of Texas). The aim of the founding club was to be a social group that would also aid the collegiate chapters in Texas. As Houston grew, so did the alliance; and in a few short years there were thirty members.

Today, the Houston Alumnae Chapter has over 500 members. It is one of 300+ alumnae chapters and 130+ collegiate chapters of Delta Delta Delta Fraternity. Other Houston area alumnae chapters include: Bay Area, Fort Bend County, Kingwood/Humble, and Montgomery County.
